Brandee Bell, a Nebraskan born and raised farm girl, is working as a Veterinary Assistant here at Superior Veterinary Care. She is currently studying to get her Applied Science Degree in Veterinary Technology and is graduating with honors, May of 2017. She is then planning on becoming a certified Veterinary Technician this summer. Passionate about working with animals, Brandee also volunteers at the Capital Humane Society where she assists the veterinary staff, walks dogs, and interacts with the critters/exotic animals. Brandee also walks dogs and pet sits when she finds the time! She enjoys running, camping with her husband and her two girls of 10 and 7, walking and training her 2 year old Rhodesian Ridgeback, Merida, and traveling. Brandee’s household also includes 2 rabbits, 3 cats and a 125 gallon “oddball” freshwater aquarium.
Erica Cory is from northern Iowa but has lived in Lincoln since high school. She works full time as an analyst at Allstate Financial and goes to school at UNL, majoring in Pre-Veterinary Zoo Animal Care. She also volunteers for the Capital Humane Society. She has four cats and a dog. Animals are her passion and what guide her life choices. She is a vegetarian and environmentalist because of her love for animals. Her goal of becoming a vet is for the sole purpose of helping and saving animals. She intends to eventually open a sanctuary and volunteer her services to various non-profit animal welfare organizations.
Allison Cruikshank is a veterinary technician assistant. She is currently in high school. After high school, she plans to study pre-vet and biology at UNL. She received her love for animals from her family. Her family has four dogs and two cats that they love dearly. In her free time, Allison loves to read.
Jen Curtis brings 24 years of experience to the team. The Kearney, NE native grew up loving animals and after some encouragement from her parents, she chose her career path and went on to graduate from the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture. She currently owns a dog named Skye and two kitties, Oliver and Liddy. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her son, Kaleb, as well as watching movies and cheering on the Husker football team.
Taylor Heng is one of Superior Veterinary Care and Cotner Pet Care’s receptionists. She is a veterinary science major at the University of Nebraska with hopes of attending vet school in the future. The Nebraska City native has always had a love for animals but her family’s farm inspired her to pursue a veterinary career path. She has a spoiled 3 year old black lab named Lola as well as three barn cats. Her spare time is spent running and training for various marathons throughout Nebraska.
Nicole Jensen is a kennel assistant and receptionist at Superior Veterinary Care. She received her bachelor’s degree in Music Education from Colorado State University and recently completed her master’s degree in Clarinet Performance at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Her love for helping and working with animals began at a young age with family animals. In her free time, she enjoys performing on the clarinet and spending time with her chinchilla, Timothy.
Kelley Pelini is Veterinary Technician originally from Marysville, KS. She graduate from Colby Communicty College in veterinary Technology and later finished her VS at Kansas State University in Agriculture Animal Science and Industry in a business option. She has worked at Kansas State and The Ohio State Universtiy vet schools. She managed a 24 Specialtiy Referral and Emergency Clinic in Mission, KS. She has three kids and more than a few animals on her acreage near Martell. Hobbies include anything outdoors and stand up paddle boarding.
Malina Pokorney graduated from Omaha College of Health Careers in 2001 with an Associate of Applied Science degree in Animal Health Technology. She has worked in a variety of animal hospitals as a Licensed Veterinary Technician over the years. Malina has 1 husband, 3 children, 2 Cavalier King Charles Spaniels, and 5 hermit crabs. Her hobbies include being with her family, reading, relaxing on the couch and shopping.
Nathan Reisinger is a veterinary technician. He was born and raised in Grand Island, NE. He graduated in 2016 from Northeast Community College in Norfolk, NE. He’s currently attending UNL to obtain a Bachelor’s Degree in Veterinary Technology.
Morissa Stokebrand is a receptionist at Superior Veterinary Care. She was born and raised in Lincoln, Nebraska. Growing up Morissa had dogs, cats, birds, fish, rats, and even guinea pigs. Morissa has always been interested in medicine. She has worked as a dental assistant and pharmacy technician. When the opportunity to work with animals and medicine occurred, Morissa was thrilled to become part of the team.
Brianna Teel is currently a veterinary student at the UNL/ISU Veterinary program and a veterinary technician assistant. She is from McCook, NE where her father is the local veterinarian. This is where she decided to become a vet. To prepare for veterinary school, Brianna got a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Cellular Biology and a Master’s degree in Biology from Fort Hays State University. Brianna is married with one son. In her spare time she enjoys playing with her son and her Brittany spaniel, Ruby but her favorite thing to do is cheer for the Ohio State University Buckeyes.
Dawn VanArsdale has always been a dog lover. In high school she discovered dog grooming and worked in a salon as a bather. Dawn came back to dog grooming in 2009 where it has been a passion ever since. She enjoys hanging out with family and friends during her free time.
Ashley Wiegand has worked as a Licensed Veterinary Technician for over 4 years. Her love of animals started at a young age while living on a small acreage near Malcolm, NE. In 2009, after graduating from high school, she started working as a kennel assistant at Superior Veterinary Care. She received her Veterinary Technology degree from the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture in 2012. Ashley has special interest in anesthesia and pain management and her professional goal is to specialize in Anesthesia and Analgesia. She has 3 cats (Foster, Kit Kat, and Cody) and 2 horses (Capone and Shadow). Ashley also works part-time as an LVT at VCA Midwest Veterinary Emergency and Referral Center in Omaha. Outside of work, she enjoys showing horses and drawing.
Madison Williams is currently a student at the University of Nebraska studying veterinary science. She has wanted to be a vet her entire life and currently has a lab/dachshund mix, Jett. In the past, Madison has had dogs, guinea pigs, hamsters, fish, turtles, and hermit crabs. In her free time she enjoys baking, watching movies and reading.
Mackenzie Zastrow-Speicher joined our team as practice manager in June 2014 after her graduation from the University of Nebraska – Lincoln. Her bachelor’s degree in Animal Science was driven by her passion for helping animals and the study of the human-animal bond. Originally from Norfolk, Nebraska, Mackenzie now lives in Lincoln with her husband, Scott, and their cat, dog, day gecko, and multiple chickens.
